Re-gaining trust and reporting truth: journalism in the Trump era

Cameron Barr, Managing Editor of The Washington Post, was the International Journalism Festival in Perugia between 7 and 8 April, 2017. In a panel discussion with Lucia Annunziata, Editorial Director at the Italian edition of The Huffington Post, Barr discussed the role of journalists in the run up campaign for the presidential seat in the 2016 US elections, and in the next four years of Trump administration.

“We are not at war with Trump, we are at work,” he stated during his keynote speech. Following his intervention, Barr gave five minutes of his time for a brief interview to talk about re-gaining the trust of disenfranchised readers, and to offer some tips to budding journalists in the era of ‘alternative facts.’
